James Janarious

James (Jimmy) Janarious focuses his practice upon the representation of injured workers throughout the state of Georgia. Prior to joining Cruz & Associates, Mr. Janarious was a partner at one of the largest insurance defense firms in Georgia, representing insurance companies and employers in Workers’ Compensation claims. His over a decade of experience in representing insurance companies provides him with a unique insight into how these companies handle and defend workers’ compensation claims.

Mr. Janarious has tried numerous cases before the State Board of Workers’ Compensation. In addition, he has argued appeals before the Appellate Division of the State Board of Workers’ Compensation, various Superior Courts, and the Court of Appeals of Georgia. Mr. Janarious successfully argued an appeal before the Court of Appeals, Reliance Electric Co. v. Bright well, 284 Ga. App. 235 (2007), which clarified the proper procedure for suspending workers’ compensation indemnity benefits. Mr. Janarious frequently presents at professional education programs and has authored several articles regarding workers’ compensation issues. Mr. Janarious earned the Rising Star® distinction in Georgia Super Lawyers® in 2010. He is a member of the of the Workers’ Compensation section of the State Bar of Georgia. Mr. Janarious received his B.A. from Emory University and his J.D. from Emory University’s College of Law.
